Release codename Brassaï: Better privacy, multiple photo sites

Photographs by Brassaï

The release du jour is Brassaï, pseudonym of the Hungarian photographer, author and artist Gyula Halász. Brassaï lived most of his artist life in Paris, photographing the city at night and in rain or mist, and was dubbed “the Eye of Paris” by Henry Miller in an essay of the same name.

Brassaï, the Polar Rose release, is all about what you can see, and what you can’t – even better privacy!

Granular Privacy
We’ve been hard at work to provide full granular privacy meaning that we replicate the original privacy settings on a per-photo basis. If a photo was set as ‘Private – Your Friends’ or ‘Private – Your Family’ on Flickr it will be viewable only by your friends on Polar Rose. The same will soon be true for our other photo source partner, 23, but for the moment we only take photos set as public there.

We don’t touch your ‘Private – for my eyes only’ photos at all. We may support doing so at a later point as part of a premium product, but for now we won’t include them.

Multiple photo site support
Many of you have your photos on more than one photo site. I personally use both 23 and Flickr and I’m thus happy that we now support importing photos from multiple photo sites with a single account. At www.polarrose.com/sources you can add accounts for each site we support.

Big portions of the Brassaï release are on the backend systems and not (yet) exposed to the user. We look forward to more exciting announcements soon, including support for additional photo sites!
